What materials are the suitcases made of?Updated 7 months ago

Our Caretta suitcases are made of pure ABS. Our other suitcases are made of ABS in combination with polycarbonate.

ABS is an abbreviation for Acrylonitrile-Butadiene-Styrene. It is a combination of three different materials. ABS is widely used in suitcases production, as the material is extremely light, hard and very form-retaining. Often, a light pattern is applied to the ABS, making the suitcase extra resistant to scratches.

Polycarbonate is a light but very sturdy, hard and transparent plastic. It is widely used, for example, in making CDs and DVDs, but also safety glasses, helmet visors, police shields, various mobile phones, drinking bottles, and food packaging.
Polycarbonate is used in the luggage industry when creating durable, robust and lightweight suitcases. Polycarbonate is more flexible yet much stronger than ABS. However, compared to ABS, polycarbonate is less scratch-resistant. If you want to keep your polycarbonate suitcase scratch-free for as long as possible, we recommend you use a protection cover.
